Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions: Welcome to the Spin Zone

Target Online Pickup and Delivery rates with a reimagined mod

This case study was shared live at theWalmart Data Ventures Inspire Event, October 1, 2024 in Rogers, Arkansas

O-Cedar Spin Mops from Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions is the largest driver of sales in the Mops and Brooms category. As Spin Mops demand grew, the team realized there was a roadblock to success: Capacity. It became increasingly difficult to make enough room on the shelf for the bulky products and because they sold quickly, it was hard to keep up with demand for in-store and Online Pickup and Delivery (OPD) orders.

Freudenberg first tapped into Walmart Luminate Channel Performance to identify Walmart stores with total omni-demand that was far above its modular capacity, therefore causing high nil pic rates and low first-time pic rates. They decided those stores needed a "Spin Zone."

They created modulars with enough Spin Mop capacity to meet demand for those stores. They also used Shopper Behavior reports to calculate the demand transference of the product that was removed and to calculate the increase for the expanded Spin Mops section. With help from their Merchant, Freudenberg ran a 300-store test with a four-foot Spin Mops section that increased capacity and made it easier for customers to shop and associates to merchandise. If adopted throughout all Walmart stores, this change represents a potential $30M in retail growth.
