With a significant pricing update on the horizon, one supplier used Walmart Luminate to predict related category cannibalization

Anticipating a nationwide price decrease for one of The Fishin’ Company’s products, their Walmart Merchant asked them to assess potential cannibalization effects. By leveraging insights gained from Walmart Luminate, the team at The Fishin’ Company was no longer tied to the raw, objective data of the past. They now had a vast supply of subjective data to answer questions like “Who is the customer?” and “Why and how are they purchasing our products?”.


Armed with Channel Performance Report Builder alongside various Shopper Behavior reports, they set out to make their predictions.

The Fishin’ Company was able to use their insights to make confident predictions on what to expect from the nationwide change. They took their forecast, alongside another surprise finding, to their Merchant as both sides prepared for this pricing update.
